Product Description

Golden Chain Lace Border, 2 cm

A golden lace border with a real metal chain heading, 2 cm wide.

The top of the lace is a golden braid with a fine metal chain set along its centre. The chain gives a sharp, jewellery-like line that catches the light as you move.

Below the chain hang small pleated golden tabs. They are folded and set at different lengths, so they form a stepped, zigzag edge instead of a straight line. In Indian trims this pointed, stepped edge is known as kangura work.

At 2 cm, it is a thin gold lace border. It frames a hem or a neckline without hiding the fabric or its print.

Where to use it

  • Sarees: along the border or the pallu edge
  • Blouses: on the sleeves, the back neck or the hem
  • Dupattas and stoles: on all four edges
  • Kurtis and suits: on the daman (hem), sleeves and neckline
  • Lehengas and skirts: above the hem or along the panels
  • Jackets and shrugs: along the front opening or the cuffs
  • Festive decoration: on pooja thalis, gift boxes, torans and diya plates

Loved by boutique owners, fashion designers and DIY creators

  • Boutique owners use it to finish blouse sleeves and kurti hems in one quick step.
  • Ethnic wear designers use this golden chain lace on silk and georgette sarees, where the metal chain adds a jewellery touch.
  • Indo-western designers use it on jackets, shrugs and crop tops, where a chain trim looks modern.
  • Garment manufacturers use it on suit sets and dupattas to lift a plain fabric.
  • Decorators and DIY creators use it on thalis, gift hampers and wedding décor.

Why it works

The metal chain adds shine that thread alone cannot. It reflects light like a fine necklace, so the border stands out even at 2 cm.

The stepped edge gives movement. The pleated tabs sit at different lengths, so the edge looks lively, not flat.

The braid keeps the line straight. The heading is firm, so the lace does not stretch or wave while you stitch.

Gold goes with every festive colour. It works on red, maroon, pink, green, navy, black and pastels.

How to Use ?

  1. Measure the edge you want to cover and add 2 to 3 cm extra for the ends.
  2. Cut the lace and fold each end under, or seal it with a little clear fabric glue so the threads do not open.
  3. Pin the braided heading along the fabric edge, with the pleated tabs facing outward.
  4. Stitch along the braid, on both sides of the chain, by hand or by machine. Do not stitch through the chain itself.
  5. For corners on dupattas, fold the lace at a 45° angle and stitch the fold flat.
  6. Press the fabric from the wrong side on low heat, with a cloth in between.
