Product Description

This button looks like it came off a vintage coat. A border of curling scrolls runs around the edge, cut through as openwork so the fabric shows between the curls. The scrolls are finished in antique gold, with black enamel set into the pattern to deepen the contrast.

At the centre sits a smooth, oval pearl-look cabochon in a soft ivory shade. Its glossy surface stands out against the dark, detailed metal around it, which gives the button the feel of an old brooch or heirloom jewellery.

At 18 mm (28L), it is a medium-sized button that works as a closure and as decoration. Use it on the front of blazers, waistcoats and coats, on bandhgalas, Nehru jackets and sherwani-style kurtas, or on designer kurtis and cardigans. How to Use

1. Mark the button positions and make buttonholes of about 20 mm.
2. Keep the oval centre pointing the same way on every button, either upright or sideways, so the row looks even.
3. Sew through the shank and the fabric five or six times with strong, doubled thread.
4. Knot the thread firmly on the inside of the garment.
5. On heavy coats, add a small backing button inside for extra strength.
